1.) Milwaukee Vs Makita

After owning two of the white Makita lith-ion drills I had to return both of them because the charger kept killing the batteries dead. From what I have read this is a known problem.

Here is what I like better about the Milwaukee.

First the charger does not kill the $80 batteries no matter how long you leave them on the charger. Second, the Milwaukee has a great battery charge indicator right on the battery. This is very important with Lith-Ion batteries as they have full power right up to the end and quit without warning. With is level gauge you know exactly how much battery life you have when you grab your drill. Third, the Milwaukee drill has bit storage on board, handy for philips and reg bits. Lastly the red color holds up much better then white.

Hope this helps.

2.) Milwaukee vs. Makita

I recently owned a Makita set so I will compare the two. I use the tools every day in remodel and new construction work.
* The Milwaukee is slightly heavier, but still easy to use.
* The belt clip on tool base is very useful. Makita doesn't have same feature.
* Battery life seems to be the same. I love the charge level indicator on the battery, but when it is dead, it stops immediately, no gradual loss.
* The hard plastic carry case will last much longer than the Makita cordura bag, which was pretty beat up after six months of use.
* Both brands have a use light above trigger but Makita's will glow for a short stretch after trigger release whereas the Milwaukee turns off immediately.
* Makita also has the glow ring on the impact driver that makes finding it in the dark easier, very handy.
* The Milwaukee impact driver has a rubber bumper strip on both sides of the nose for friction protection [nice] but one end on both sides come unattached with very little use [annoying]. I had to super glue them in place and they have held for several weeks.
* I anticipate no difference in tool life and durability having used both tool brands for many years.

Recently I've been doing a lot of work around the house getting ready for winter. I went to Home Depot looking for an impact driver (something that could easily drive 4-6 inch lag screws and 8-10 inch Timberlock screws). The Makita and Milwaukee impact drivers seemed to outperform any others available. I chose the Milwaukee based on prior experience with this brand AND final sale price of $225.00 for the set (versus $275 for the Makita). Right out of the box there was enough charge in the battery to finish driving several timber screws in a drain box I was repairing. I've been very impressed with the weight, durability, and performance of this set. The torque in the impact driver is eye-popping. No buyer's remorse for this tool purchase.

Great buy on an awesome combo kit. I already own a Milwaukee 2601-20 M18 Compact drill and driver. I wanted to get a cordless impact to replace my piece-o-junk Dewalt cordless impact; which I sold to a fellow co-worker because he thinks Dewalt tools are the best thing since sliced bread. Anyway as a Die-Hard Milwaukee fan I was going to get the 18v NiCad version of the Cordless Impact(tool only) to go with my Lok-Tor series cordless hamerdrill/driver. I was in my local Home Depot and I noticed this combo kit for $299. I was hesitant at first because I already had the exact drill but I thought it would not hurt to have 2. After I purchased this kit I had o try it out. The drill was the same as my other one, which is awesome. The impact has to be the best in ts class with 1400 in-lb of torque that beats the Dewalt by 200 in-lbs. I had this drive loosening rusty hardware on an old conduit rack outside, it feels stable in your hands and is so light you can use it overhead for long periods of time. I fastened a shoulder strap to the case nd take the whole kit up extension ladders onto roofs with me, and with the weight of these tools its just like having one NiCad drill with you. A+++ to Milwaukee for designing these 2 great tools.

I'm very happy with this combo cordless drill. I have seen and searching for the same type with many different brands at Home depot and Lowe's. There are two brands comes into my mind, they are Makita and Milwaukee. I was compared this combo set to Makita LXT211. Honestly to say this Milwaukee is all I need for my jobs. It delivered a lot of power, compact and lightweight besides this set packed with 5 years warranty, comes with nice plastic case and these factors are my main concerned if you use it a lot for the jobs. Cheaper than Makita in prices and a lot more power than Makita LXT line. Smart buy for all who needs it for jobs and home users, highly recommended to all.

8.) Milwaukee M18 Drills and the comfort of their grip
Reviewed by: projectsforever seattle

I only want to comment about one thing on these tools. The palms of my hands are wide, XL size when I buy gloves. I tried gripping all the better quality 18 volt drills: Makita, Bosch, Dewalt, and Ridgid. Only the Milwaukee felt comfortable and didn't feel like I was trying to get a wide foot into a shoe that was too narrow. The DeWalt gave my palm enough room but there's a raised piece on the plastic handle under the trigger that dug into my middle finger after awhile. As far as the quality of the Milwaukee M18 tools I'll give them 5 stars there also.

Hint: Buy a Milwaukee High Capacity Battery (#48-11-1828) as a backup third battery if you think you'll need more runtime. They fit on the same charger, and then save a lot of money by only buying bare tools in the future as you need them. You'll save on chargers, batteries, and cases you don't need.

9.) the wall-building duo
Reviewed by: Michael Hanslip Canberra, Australia
Rating:
I started building a new wall at home with a borrowed pair (drill and driver like this set, but Panasonic). I had to return them before the wall was finished and decided I could not live without the functions once I had the pleasure of cordless power. After reading everything I could find (wood working forums, reviews, talking to sales guys and my friends about their brands) I chose the Milwaukee kit for its low price on Amazon.
The drill/driver is perfect for putting drywall screws in - set the clutch and it auto-stops at just the right place. The impact driver is perfect for the outside of my wall, where I had to put screws into wood panelling. You could use the drill/driver for the wood side of the wall, but it requires so much torque in the last few turns of the screw that I wasn't getting consistent screw depth. And you can use the impact driver for the gyproc side of the wall, but you have to pay careful attention to releasing the trigger or you drive the screw right through the wallboard.

It seems as though all the brands of LiIon 18V cordless tools have the combination of some electronic circuitry in the battery pack and some in the charger casing. I was disappointed to discover this because I was hoping to be able to charge the battery packs with my smart charger (designed for radio-control batteries) at lower charging rates when I wasn't in a hurry. The Milwaukee charger is fixed at 3Amps.
Some high powered bike lights use LiIon batteries and put the entire charging circuit in the battery pack so that all the external "charger" does is feed a DC voltage in. Putting some of the circuit in the battery packs makes each one quite expensive. Putting some of it in the external charger makes it also quite expensive (the Milwaukee charger seems comparatively expensive against other brands). Anyway, for most users these concerns are irrelevant.
The LED light on each unit is well aimed and quite bright. The balance of the units feels good in the hand. They are compact enough to get the screws into the wall against the ceiling where there isn't much space (and my corded drill failed miserably at the same task). The trigger is sensitive and easy to control the bit speed.

If they last a long time then they'll be perfect for my household tasks.

This set of drill guns are great. The new lithium-ion batteries are so much lighter and more powerful and they last a lot longer. You have to be a little careful in soft wood or the screws will counter sink half way through the board, but that's operator enthusiasm I guess. Screws just go in so much more easily, I get a little carried away. Also being a woman over sixty, I'm just delighted at the light weight and all that power so that I can get projects done more easily and faster than with a heavy clunky gun.

I was looking for a new battery powered drill for a year or more and I visited all of the local tool stores to try them out. I was impressed by the smooth progression of power as the trigger was squeezed with the Milwaukee drill. Most other drills jerked to a start which causes screw driver bits to jump off the screw slot. I've only used this drill for a few small projects so far and the battery meter says the lithiun ion battery is still fully charged.

Once I decided Milwaukee was the drill I wanted, I went shopping and found that Amazon was by far the best price and they had free shipping which I like a lot.

I'm an avid DIY'er. I bought this set to replace a cheapo 14.4v Skil NiCad drill (which still works, but is really underpowered). I bought the set for the impact driver, but I used the drill with a 2" holesaw and it didn't bog down. The used the impactor to hang some strapping to my red oak and chestnut floor joists. It drove a couple dozen 2" screws without difficulty. I don't know if this set would be good for someone who makes their living with their tools, but they definitely suit my needs.

I love these things! They replaced my 19.2 volt craftsman drill, which I am sad to get away from since I have so many of the tools to go with that battery type. My craftsman drill trigger was going out for a year, finally died, and I decided to go with this set since they have the 5 year warranty. My grandpa told me to go with Hitachi but Milwaukee still caught my eye in the end.

These things are amazing! Light weight, balanced nice when resting on the tool belt or clipped on my pants pocket. The drill has the same power as my 19.2 and is way easier to handle! The "fuel" gauge is pretty awesome as well, letting me know exactly what is left in the pack when leave the garage to do a job in the house. The light on both of them do a good job lighting the area where the bit is at so you can see better what you are drilling or driving.

The impact driver is amazing as well! My buddies said I would never use it, boy were they wrong! I use it to drive 3 inch screws as using it will increase your battery life over how many 3 inch you are running versus the drill. pretty loud though, but I didnt expect anything different being an impact unit. The neighbors all came over to run a few screws in with it as the noise drew them over. WOW is all I could really say after running a screw in even since I have bought them.

My grandpa came over to check em out, man was he surprised! the weight! the fact that they stand on the battery, the fuel gauge, and how tough they are really made him want to see if my grandma would let him get a set and replace his 1 year old Hitachi! HAHAHAHA! She said No! HAHAHA! Now he wants to burn up his Hitachi!

I would definetly buy them again. My only complaint is that the Battery power doesn't hold up as long as the 19.2 craftsman did, but I am confidant that the XC version would do it. Gonna wait a little before I buy an extra battery as they are [...] bucks each which seems to be in line price wise with other brands. Also I have the Milwaukee Jobsite radio, and these don't work in it. Maybe they will make an adapter..... I doubt it, so is the life of tools, propriatary differences.

Otherwise I have no other bad remarks. Definetely worth it! (They are also making more tools for this new battery setup! yay!)

Very light, very strong. Other manufactures can not compete. Home Depot sells the drill-only version for the same price as the combo on Amazon. I like this waaayy better than the Makita 14.4V I owned before.
Batteries hold a charge no matter how long I keep them in my trunk in the freezing MI weather, and they charge in about 30 min. The battery indicator is SWEET! Be the talk of your buddies! Hit the button on the battery and it tells you how much juice you got left, which is very important when using LithIon batteries.
Oh and the case is nice too, fits everything perfectly- nothing slides around.
I only wish the drill came with a tool belt loop like the impact does, and that the impact came with a bit holder like the drill does.
Buy it! You will not be dissapointed!

19.) Compact and powerful

Both tools are lightweight and powerful. The impact driver is extremely useful for various projects. The drill has 2 speeds and several power selections for torque. My only minor quirk about the drill is selecting between low and high rpm - if you are not careful, it will not engage all the way, but not a biggie. The controls are located logically and the LED light is spot on for me. I'm a DYI'er so the batteries last plenty long for me and hold the charge for a long time. If you are a contractor, I'd recommend getting the larger capacity batteries which will also add bulk and weight.

I have since picked up the M18 sawzall, grinder, jigsaw and circular saw to give myself the opportunity to go cordless with building projects. As with this kit, the other M18 tools are amazingly impressive and well priced.

The driver was great when i recently had to demolish a old wall with old screws in old sturdy wood. If i didn't have the driver im positive all the screws would have been stripped and it would have taken twice as long. I've been using a DeWalt drill and driver for years; no real issues with them ... well, except heavy and takes forever to recharge, especially if the battery is hot, which it is if you've been using it. As fate would have it both my drill and my driver died within a few days of each other, motors shot. Far cheaper to replace than repair. But ... do I replace with DeWalt or go with something else?

Google to the rescue. Search Best Cordless Drill/driver. Milwaukee came up first in nearly every critical reviewing site I found. In most review comparisons DeWalt didn't even make the chart cutoff of top 10. Next up, where to buy; to my great surprise Amazon had by far the best price (no, they aren't paying me for this review, tho they should!)

Delivery was 3 days flat; package arrived in great shape, new as described. Batteries came half charged as they should. Popped 'em in the charger and fully charged in around 10 minutes. Awesome! Now for the test.

I was building a large deck, ~ 39' x 20'. In 97F heat no less. The charge lasted longer than I did. The drill was doing pilot holes, the driver handling the screws. All day. No falter. No need for recharging during the day. At the end of the day I popped the batteries in the charger and did it again the next day. And the next (with several related jobs, not just the deck).

To say these Milwaukees outperformed my old DeWalts is an understatement. MUCH lighter, max charge time of ~ 20 minutes when battery is completely drained. Tough. Drill goes right up to the last bit of juice before stopping, not like the DeWalt that loses power as the battery is fading.

Now, I don't know about industrial-type use, but for advanced and complex DIY projects anyway Milwaukee holds up, and handily earns The Captain's Seal of Approval, Two Thumbs Up.

Now I need to start replacing my other fading DeWalt cordless tools....

My recent purchase of the compact Milwaukee 18-volt Li-ion drill driver and impact wrench set was satisfactory in every respect. I had not anticipated how handy it would be using the drill to prep screw holes and the impact driver to insert the screws. It was much quicker to switch tools than to change from drill bit to drive bit. Both tools performed flawlessly and lasted all day without a recharge. I noticed the charger, even after fully recharging both batteries, did not become overly warm. The chuck gripped firmly and the controls were located where they needed to be. I'm glad I paid a little more for the legendary Milwaukee quality. I was not disappointed.

I bought this set to replace a failing B&D Industrial cordless driver that had worked like a champ for a lot of years.
Admittedly the only reason I chose the Milwaukee set over a Bosch set was the availability of a small vacuum that used the same battery pack. I am glad I did.
The drill/driver is compact and very well balanced. I've used it for quite a few projects over the past 9 months and it has been up to every task I've thrown at it. The clutch seems to be very consistent with little variance even after driving multiple consecutive fasteners.
The impact driver is a gem. Compact, light, balanced and powerful I've used it to bust off corroded exhaust fasteners and to drive 4" deck screws. (NOTE: this is an impact driver, not an impact wrench. i.e. It doesn't produce enough torque to tighten down wheel lug nuts.)
My two favorite features of the impact driver are 1. The LED that lights the work area. 2. The variable speed/variable torque trigger. This is more useful than you would first think.
The case does what it should and has space for the charger and a third battery if you need one.
The batteries are also very, very nice. Compact but with a very useful run-time. Unlike NiCad batteries, LiIon batteries give you all or nothing. Whereas a NiCad will slowly lose power and fade out these batteries will give you full power until they are spent so, Milwaukee has provided a gauge on the battery pack so you can tell how much of a charge is left.
>If you buy this set do yourself a favor and also buy the Milwaukee compact vacuum. I hesitantly >bought it at the recommendation of a friend. It seemed gimicky and useless but it is so well >designed and built that it gets used more than either the drill or driver.
I think this is the first product I've given a full five stars to, I can't think of any fault or issue.
Pros: price, great batteries, balanced, LED light, compact, included case, optional vacuum.
Cons: still looking.

Great tools. Much better than my old Dewalt 18V NiCad tools. I like the battery charge indicator. And there is very little drop off in power when the batteries get close needing recharge. The 30 minute charger is great and gives a status of charge. The keyless chuck grips very tightly. This is the first "driver" I have owned. I was not sure if I needed one. I am using the heck out of it everyday. My only surprise was the sudden loss of power, when the battery is spent. At first, I thought I over did it. 30 minutes later, I was back to full strength.

The first big job where the pair of tools was used was a 1500 square foot deck. I found that the driver was very useful. It drove deck screws all day every day for several weeks. It was powerful and the battery life was good. The batteries recharged quickly. The hammer action is noisey but it makes camming out of the screws less likely to happen. After the deck job I found the pair so useful I bought a second set for my helper.

The power on both the drill and the impact is excellent. Make sure you have a steady grip.

The balance and weight on them both when in your hand is great. Credit the Li-Ion batteries.

Battery life is quite good too. Coming from Ni-Cd, huge, huge improvement.

Belt clip on side is nice touch and functional.

I like having the light come on to illuminate the space I'm working on. Has come in very handy even when I'm not drilling.

Only minus is similar to a few other's experience: small rubber strip on side pops out and hangs there. Purely cosmetic, but I like my tools to look good, which thses do.

It takes a little fiddling to get it to shift from low to high, but no more than a couple of seconds worth. The impact driver is a fine little tool. It starts the screw fast before the impact kicks in (compared to a battery drill on low speed), but after driving a few screws I got used to it. It puts 3 1/2" screws into treated pine effortlessly (although backing them out with the impact driver is a bit of a trick--I use the drill for that). I'm a hobbyist...a retired car nut. I like good tools, and in this case, I wanted a cordless drill with lots of power, and a keyless chuck that would hold a drill bit without slipping. I haven't used my new Milwaukee drill and impact driver much yet, but my initial impression is very positive, with one exception: battery life. Both pieces have all the power you could ask for, and they're light and well-balanced. They feel good in your hand...not over-bulky or lop-sided. The chuck on the drill grabs great, and doesn't spin on the drill bits, but I noticed the battery charge getting low after about 30 holes in sheet metal. Battery charge lasted a little better on the impact driver...I don't know if the drill just pulls more charge out of the battery, or maybe my drill battery happened to be weaker than the driver one. In any case, the battery charge indicator lets you know where you're at (after you put the battery on the charger), and the batteries recharge in a relatively short time. I questioned at first, why I'd need or want an impact driver if I had a powerful drill. Won't they do basically, the same thing? The impact driver gives you much greater control in driving screws. I was able to drive about 75 sheet metal screws into thick sheet metal without boogering up a single phillips head or twisting off a single screw. I know that using a drill to drive those screws, I'd have had about a 75% success rate at best. For me, these are great...for a contractor or someone working for a living, you'd want to have a handful of batteries so you can keep going.

In other words why can't Milwaukee use the same hook up to there tools like DeWalt, Makita, and festool. Well I broke down and bought this 2691-22 kit because I needed to get an Impact Driver and all I can say is WOW!!!!!! I have used a friends Dawalt and also a Makita and I know this Milwaukee 1/4" Impact is AWESOME!!!! It delivers much more power than the Makita and Dewalt. And it feels better in the hand also than the other 2 tools. I tested this tool out on my John Deere GT235 mower's blades and in less time than my CP air impact wrench would take I had all three blades off and I didn't have to pull out the air hose and lift the heavy air tool under my mower. Then I drove 3 - 6"x 3/8" lag bolts into a pressure treated 4"x4" without drilling a pilot hole and countersunk all 3 of them. This tool never slowed down or grunted. My friend that has the Dewalt 1/4" Impact driver tried my new Milwaukee and drove 2 more lag bolts in the same 4"x4" and turned to me and said he wanted to trade his 4 piece Dewalt kit and his Dewalt Job Site radio for my Impact driver with charger and 2 compact batteries. My answer was NO WAY!!!!!!! As for the Drill/Driver in the kit I might use it, but will probably get the Compact Hammer drill and sell the one that came in the kit. I now have 2 18v NiCad hammer drills and 2 V18 hammer drills a V18 flash light a NiCad Job Site Radio and now a M18 Impact driver and drill/driver all made by Milwaukee. And that just scratches the surface of other makes of cordless tools and corded tools. I do have to admit that Milwaukee still has the best fit and feels better in the hand than any other tool I own or have tried. Also Milwaukee has the best warranty of any other tool except Festool. But I can buy 3 Milwaukee 2691-22 kits for just 1 Festool Impact driver with charger and batteries. And I would rather have the MIlwaukee. This set is the best drill/impact set for the money hands down.

It is a quality set and has features that set it apart, like the charge level indicator on the battery.

Comparing this set to the Makita set, they are almost identical except the makita's LED light stays on for a few seconds after the trigger is pulled. And the Milwaukee has the charge level indicators on the battery. Other than that they are probably made in the same factory they are so close. The Milwaukee is about $70 cheaper, so I say save a few bucks. They really are about the same and if you were blindfolded and handed each, you couldn't tell the difference very easily.

Now you need to realize that when I say this is the best kit for the money, that doesn't mean it is the best drill out there. The best overall drill driver is the Festool T-15+3, but at $570 it is out of my price range. And the best drill/hammerdrill out there is the Hilti. Also a couple of hundred dollars more than this set. The Hilti and the Festool are seriously on a different level of quality and functionality than this set, but you will pay for it. I own quite a few Festool tools and LOVE them. I was going to buy the Festool but just couldn't justify spending that kind of money on a drill when I could get the Milwaukee set so much cheaper.

Bottom line is that I own this set and it has taken every bit of abuse I have been able to throw at it.

In fact, both the sets I got were seriously worn--the first one really looked it, too. But the company was great, sending me another one and allowing me to return the first kit. Then when one of the batteries on the second set turned out to be unable to hold a charge, they sent me a new one immediately. They were courteous and prompt and explained everything. Good company.
The drill and driver are very nice. Balanced, strong enough, small enough to get into tight spaces. Milwaukee has since come out with a larger 18 volt battery and that tells you something about what they think of these too-small batteries. The first kit I got had one dead battery and one weak battery. The second kit came with one battery that was nearly dead and a second that seems to not quite fully charge, but is good enough for me. The new battery they sent me works fine and from what I saw of this company, they would have sent me a second new battery if I had asked. Serious use will drain even the new one faster than you expect.
So, the battery is the weak point, but the tool is such a deal for the money that I give it 4 stars and the company gets 5 stars for great service.

Word of mouth from various friends is that Milwaukee is one of the better manufacturers of compact cordless drills and related equipment. Saw the 2691-22 combo on Amazon. It kind of jumped out at me, and I ordered it via One-click.

The package arrived in a few days. First thing I noticed was how balanced the drill felt in my hand. Way better than the old Makita. So far I have not drilled a hole or turned a screw with it, but I am sure it will work fine.

I was disappointed in the impact driver, but only at first. How could I have ordered am impact driver with that wimpy 1/4" hex drive instead of a 1/2" or maybe a 3/8" square drive? Bummer! Then I purchased the quick-connect square drivers in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" sizes at a local hardware store. OK, now we're going somewhere. I used the impact driver to remove the fasteners holding the brake disks on the front and rear wheel of my BMW R1150 GS motorcycle. Had to heat up the fasteners on the rear wheel to get the lock-tite to let go, but that's way better than turning out the threads on the hub along with the brake disk fasteners. Maybe a beefier impact driver would have generated enough torque to peel those fasteners out of the aluminum hub without heat, but maybe that would have caused some unwanted thread wankage in the hub, which would have been bad. Got the new Galfer wavy rotors on via hand tools, including a Snap-On torque wrench; no impact drivers needed for tightening on a BMW motorcycle braking system.

All in all, I am very pleased with my Milwaukee 2691-22 combo.

Amazon replaced the units but after 2 bad ones I decided to go with Milwaukee. The 18v is really more than
I needed but the M12 Combo set was $100 more! So I figured better to buy the M18 Combo set.
Well.... This is a LOT heavier for working overhead. My wife thinks it's too heavy. I have no doubt it will
outlast it's 5 year warranty. I needed a drill driver that could actually drill holes with a proper chuck
since all the hex drill bits I've seen aren't true and wobble terribly.
So while the M18 drill/driver is heavy it has a proper chuck and can accomodate real drills.
The impact driver is too powerful for small jobs like taking out flathead screws from overhead.
The drill/driver was even heavier. I'm sure if those had been phillips head screws they'd have come out
easily. Flat head screws bite anyway.
The screws the impact driver did remove came out with a vengeance.
Overall I'd say this drill is great for bigger jobs, big/long screws and lag bolts. But for overhead work
like cabinets with small screws the M12 would be a much better choice as it's a lot lighter.
I bought Apex bits locally and wow what an improvement over the crap stuff that they sell in Home depot

I am waiting on a replacement from Amazon since it is under the 30 days.

Otherwise the impact driver is fantastic. I used it to take a deck apart including removing 5" lags and it worked great....in fact maybe too good because it snapped a few of them.

Batteries charged in 30 minutes as stated and seemed to hold a relativity decent charge. They are the smalled of the lithium batteries so you can get larger batteries for the tools but until I run these batteries through a few charges I won't know their real run time.

I only gave it 3 stars because of the drill problems. I would have definitely given it 4 or 5 if it weren't for the switch problems and I may change it when I get the new set.

This really isn't a heavy duty drill and fails pretty bad when I try to drill 1" auger bit hole for electrical work. However, it's excellent for deck screws, it just has enough power to drive them on high speed, and it's much lighter than my heavier duty drill. The reduction in fatigue after a day is noticeable. Battery life is not very long doing this, it virtually stalls at the end of each drive. Still, the second battery charges faster than I use it. Battery also gets fairly warm, but with the XC battery, it stays cool and lasts 3 times longer despite only being twice the capacity. I also use this for metal roofing screws. These are 1" #9 self tapping screws. Each compact battery puts in about 250 screws, either drill or impact, both are good for this task, and they charge faster than I use them. For being up on a slippery roof, the light weight and belt hook is great. The impact driver is outstanding and seems about identical to the DeWalt compact one which I worked along side of on a recent deck job, both for 1/2" lags and 2.5" composite screws. I ended up using the drill instead though because it's faster and as I mentioned, just powerful enough for this task.

Bottom line This tools kit drill/impact @ $199 Made in China not worth the money. << DO NOT BUY >> unless much less, this goes for the Ridgid and other brand as well, lots of company are blowing up the price then bring it down to make it look like you got a good deals but you're not. Also peoples are fall for the lifetime warranty must READ their fine print "time to time they consider the tools will wear/tear as it does not cover as defective...it clearly state that they only cover if items are defective" so it actually 3yrs as they printed on the box, Milwaukee will give 5yrs.

If you don't beleive the cost would be $20 to make in China??? well just think of all the Chinese scooter were sold on Ebay for $500+free shipping so how much seller are getting them in for? remember all the freight shipping cost from china factory to serveral whare house then to buyer home and selling price are only $500+free ship. <> So all these company are smiling all the way to the bank when someone are clicking at either full blow up price or even sale price at $199 like this.

Oh...I forgot 1 more thing...make sure washing your hands after using these tools, not because of grease or dirt but since it Made in China it probably have high percentage of poison leads. I hope more peoples should speak up about the quality of these tools and where it Made!!! to reflect the price it should be worth buying. I know Milwaukee has been around for sometimes but don't forget these tools quality are not the same as back then.

I purchased this item for $254.00 from Amazon.com LLC, and one week later Amazon.com LLC had it listed for $222.00. They refused to give a credit. They did say that I could return the item, and then turn around a re-buy it for the new price. It seemed very inefficient for me to send them back the drill, and for them to resend me the same drill. It would keep everyone's costs down, if Amazon simply issued a credit in these scenarios.

101.) Would be a great drill if two of them didn't have wobbly chucks
Reviewed by: S. Fuller Central Iowa

After having Makita products in the past, I chose to buy this Milwaukee drill after the Makita Lithium Ion drills had concerns about wobbly chucks and poor batteries. I received the drill and immediately liked it. The weight, size, trigger control, etc. were all fantastic. The best drill I ever handled. So I took my new drill to put up several blinds and thought the new quick change bit set I bought was junk. Everything was wobbling and it was even hard to put in the screws. I went down to the shop and started going through some other bits. Every one of them wobbled. So, I pulled out my old Makita and the wobbling was immediately gone. I was in the middle of a bunch of different projects, so I went to a local store and picked up another Milwaukee. I got it home and the same problem. They both wobble like nothing I've seen before. Beware, others say Makita has wobble problems, but in my case 2 Milwaukee compact drills from two different stores have suffered from wobbly chucks, while I've never seen a Makita with this problem. There's definitely some quality control issues at Milwaukee with these drills.

102.) Even on small jobs these batteries will let you down.

Ok so I did the research and took the plunge from my 18V NiMH standby dewalt setup (lasted me 8 years) to Li-ion.
First I have to say that I am a homeowner who throws all sorts of projects at my tools, I mention this because I believe in getting the right tool for the job. I beleive in spending extra so you don't end up replacing in five years or less. Are my expectation too high?
While I do own an rotary impact drill and a impact wrench (both dewalt) I do not own a corded drill. Why? because in eight years my 18V dewalt had the muscle to get it done. Sure I burned through a battery after 5 years. So I was looking forward to the punch of a impact drive and a drill for about what I paid for my dewalt several years earlier.

Here's the letdown, this milwalkee set does not have the battery life to live up to even the smaller jobs. Example: installing a clothes line and drilling some 1/4" holes in metal conduit, total holes drilled on a charge 12 before battery gave off warning and quit.
Is it a fluke? Are the batteries bogus, nope this is the second set. I decided lets give milwaulkee one more try after some small hole saw work in sheet metal killed the previous batteries. I've pampered this last set and I am sick of it. Milwaulkee had the right idea, compact format light weight but don't be fooled, this combo set is severely limited by the battery. Everything else is fantastic, led light, belt clip, clutch, two speeds, etc.
Why did i get rid of the dewalt the gear box finally blew up. I am going to check into having it repaired...
One star Milwaulkee because if you can't can drill and drive you're screwed.

103.) Dissappointed in quality of drill
Reviewed by: tooler Austin, TX

I've was a loyal Milwaukee customer until I got this drill/driver combo. Here are the issues I have with the drill:
1. About 50% of the time, the gear selector on the top of the drill gets stuck during actuation, no matter how hard you push. The chuck must be rotated slightly for it to fully seat. I would expect this from junky harbor freight tools, but not Milwaukee.
2. The fit of the battery to the body of the drill is loose. The fit is much tighter on the impact driver.
3. Major pinch point between the LED housing and the torque adjustment ring. You have to be sure to grasp the ring toward the front of the drill to avoid this.
4. After about 2 weeks of light use, the white paint that forms the large Milwaukee emblem on the drill started flaking off. I used my fingernail to easily scrape the rest of it off since it made it look junky. This is cost cutting at it's worst! Milwaukee, this is your brand!

The quality of the impact driver seems to be a cut above the driver.

By the way, I returned my first kit because of these issues, but the second kit was identical to the first in it's flaws.

Time to switch brands. Milwaukee, your poor design execution and/or cost cutting went way too far with this product.

104.) Pros stay away
Reviewed by: G. Olsen MT

I am a daily user of tools like this and this was a big letdown. Thought I was getting a good deal at 200 for the set. They call this an 18 volt drill but it has less power than my 12 volt Makita! I was able to stall it by grasping the chuck tightly. It strained drilling with a 1 1/2" holesaw. The Impact doesn't seem much better. The electrician on my jobsite has this set and both batteries died within the first year. Anywhay I returned it and will stay away from Milwaukee Chinese junk from now on. Does anyone make tools built to last anymore?

105.) Worse drill I ever owned
Reviewed by: BPS Canada
Rating:
This was my first Milwaukee product and will likely be the last. The drill that comes with this set is not worthy of being called an upscale unit. (Let me note though that the impact driver is clearly a cut above, and its quite durable). Besides the usual issues that people had with the weak batteries, I managed to break 3 different drills. The first drill i bought in April lasted a month but wouldn't switch from 1st to 2nd gear anymore. Got an exchange, that drill lasted 2 days, stripped out the gears, wouldn't turn in 1st anymore. Got one more exchange, same thing, stuck in 1st. Clearly those who are happy with the drill are not pushing it. I would expect this from a lower end brand but not Milwaukee. To add insult to injury, I went and bought their hammer drill/impact driver combo yesterday, thinking that going to a higher quality drill within the brand would solve my quality issues. I bring it home to notice 4 of the screws that hold the drill together are missing!!! Unbelievable! They never finished assembling it! That's 4 strikes for you Milwaukee, and i am returning this kit and getting a Makita kit. Don't expect a tough drill, its fine to hang pictures and light duty work but not renovations or the serious DIY. By the way I am not a contractor, just a DIY who expects more for this price.
